Moose Hunting at Gander River Outfitters

For twenty-one years, Gander River Outfitters has been offering moose hunting packages to individuals from all over the world. Moose hunts take place in the fall and Gander will tailor your hunting experience to your personal preferences and physical condition. All trips are guided and guides are glad to share their experience and information with you. Moose are plentiful in Newfoundland and hunting one is exciting experience. Gander River likes to remind guests that hunting moose can be similar to fishing. They will do their best at finding you the best game they can find, but there is no guarantee in getting to bring a moose home. Here are a few more facts that they have found to be true when hunting in Newfoundland:

  • Only male moose have antlers.
  • There is no way to find the moose with the biggest antlers; sometimes you have to take what you can get.
  • You don’t have to shoot the first moose you see, but to take one home you must shoot the last one you see.

Gander River guides will do their best to find the largest animal that your license allows. If you choose not to shoot, they will keep hunting with you and do what they can to find you another moose. Gander River strives for superior customer satisfaction in all of their hunting excursions and many guests have left with moose of all sizes. In addition to moose hunting, hunters can also choose to hunt black bear and caribou in combination hunts.

To get to the hunting grounds, Gander River will transport you by boat or through trucks and ATVs. The terrain is varied and includes dense forest, bogs and marshes as well as logged over areas. This is some of the best places to find moose that are feeding. Gander River will provide you with the necessary equipment for your fishing; all you have to do is purchase a license. Non-hunting and bird hunting companions are welcome with big game hunters for a reduced fee depending on the services they require.

Many businesses and companies have found Gander River an excellent facility for corporate retreats. Fishing and hunting is a great way to build a team and encourage teamwork amongst employees or executives in leadership positions. Big game hunting is a great way to show a special client a good time and you have the opportunity to land a big moose as well. The antlers will remind them of their trip as they hang in their office.

Gander River  hosts only 4 to 6  big game hunters per week. This allows them to provide hunters with excellent customer service and a guide to client ratio of 1:1 or 2:1 for partner hunts. The lodge also offers meat field care and packaging for your flight home. Home cooked meals are prepared by a full time chef and they will provide transportation to and from the Gander airport. Visit ganderriver.com for more information and to book your next big game hunt!
